Simple Built-in Pantry Shelving

A customer’s previous pantry shelves were not sized properly for the space, and the height adjustable pins were beginning to bend under the weight of the shelve’s contents. After a few shelves failed and her items crashed to the ground, she reached out looking to ditch the adjustability and make her system more robust.
In an effort to save on materials, we used the original shelving boards, which were unevenly cut and just a bit too short for the space. I cut and sealed lengths of 1x4 fur boards to use as supports beneath each shelf. These strips were affixed to the side walls with Liquid Nails adhesive and 15ga nails. The shelves were then glued down to the supports, and a line of tan colored caulking was used to seal the gap where the boards were short.
A relatively simple fix, while utilizing much of the existing materials, made for a stronger and more reliable pantry storage system.
